Wow! those are some great mushroom shots. My little one thoroughly enjoyed them. We keep meaning to make a book of the pics of mushrooms we find. One day...

I see lots of mushrooms bursting through the pathways, here. There'll be a swell in the pavement which will then erupt in a cluster of hundreds, like some kind of hidden beast breaking free. I did read once that large numbers of mushrooms are connected underground.

Yeah the main body of the organism is the mycelium network underground, the mushroom simply being the ‘fruit’ or ‘genitalia’ if you want to put it that way. Lol. The more you study them the more alien they seem being neither plant nor animal. So many things in nature survive in a symbiotic with them from algae to trees..... ( and space cadet hippies)

What do you think of the old McKenna theory that, since mushrooms can survive in space, they must have come from space?

Ha. We all are from space. Crazy that elemental dust and a spark of magic evolution can grow all the lifeforms we know. I like the Santa Claus stories before St Nick was morphed with the pagan origins. Of him being a shaman that would enter the nomadic tents in Northern European countries and sage smoke them evolving into the chimney entrances of modern day. And of course the red fly agaric references and the deer that would follow him about to lick the trippy yellow snow.

Oh awesome! Tks for the pics! I'll have to show my little one in the morning. She will love them. I love those red ones. I've not seen anything quite like it on this side of the pond. I hope to one day wonder the woods in another country and see the difference. Just not any where near the Amazon or anything. As beautiful as it looks the crazy spiders freak me out.
And how interesting about them surviving in space. I have never heard that. Very cool.
